Practice flyboard (which, in case you don't know what it is, you can find here more information) is one of the most fun things I've done this summer.

About to take off

I practiced it at the San Adrián de Cobres Pier, in Pontevedra, with Flyboard Vigo. David, who explained to me how the activity is developed and the tricks to learn to fly.

 Maneuvering with the flyboard

I did the activity very close to Vigo, at the San Adrián de Cobres Pier,
Pontevedra. To get there, coming from Vigo or Pontevedra on the AP-9 Highway, taking exit 146 Cangas, Moaña and at the roundabout taking the direction of San Adrián de Cobres. During the month of August they also travel to Sanxenxo, a very touristy town in summer to go to the beach. There are many adventure sports there: jet skis, parascending, water skiing, etc.

 Learning to handle the flyboard

The flight has a duration of about 30-40 minutes, depending on how comfortable you are when learning, but if you pay attention to his explanations and do everything exactly as he tells you, you will learn very fast! I was afraid that I wouldn't keep my balance and that I wouldn't be able to get out of the water, but within 5 minutes I was already flying around the monitor!
So that you don't get hurt when you fall into the water, they leave you with a wetsuit that also keeps you warm in the cold waters of Galicia, as well as a vest and a helmet. Everything is for safety!

 Propulsion flyboard

The device consists of boots anchored to a small board through which powerful jets of water come out from the sides that make you propel yourself. To achieve that strength, a 20-meter hose is attached to the boots that starts from the instructor's jet ski, with which he follows you and gives you the power to go up or down.

 Maneuvers with the flyboard

You take the rest of the control, leaning forward or backward to accelerate or brake, and turning your body to make turns. With this inclination you go to one side or the other. The sensation of flying over the water is amazing, especially when you start to control the device. At first you sit down and let yourself fall into the water, then you lie down to get away from the coast and then you stand up straight to get out of the water.

 Flyboard in Vigo

The instructor always gives advice, and if you follow it you will be flying in a few minutes. When you fly always look for your jet ski, even if you go on another direction, always look at him, so you don't lose control. Because if you look at the water you will fall... although sometimes it is difficult not to look where you fall! With this device you can do cool tricks, although if it's your first time just getting out of the water and doing a few laps around the port without falling is already a feat. In my case I climbed up to 4 meters and I stayed without falling for about 3 minutes in a row.

 Jet ski and flyboard boots

In the end, and since I had an audience in the port watching how I did it, I decided to try doing the dolphin like David had taught me, getting out of the water and diving headlong into it, diving and coming out again. It's a little difficult but I did it!

It is an activity that I loved and that next summer I plan to repeat!

And you, have you already been on a flyboard?
