1. Rinse with fresh water
Perhaps this is the most important advice. Sea salt damages neoprene a lot, so don't hesitate and as soon as you get out of the water, rinse it off in one of the nearby showers. If you don't have any on hand, you can wait until you get home.
Remember: rinse it with cold water, never use hot water, even if it's winter and you want to warm up a little after getting out of the water. This will cause the suit to dry out and lose flexibility.
It is advisable that from time to time you let it soak in a bucket or bathtub for about 15 minutes.
2. Do not use soaps
There are those who use soap, but it is not recommended, since it will end up damaging the material with which the suit is made. Some people use shampoo sporadically.
If you want to remove the bad smell produced by bacteria or mold that can grow after not drying it properly, there are products on the market like Mirazyme. Even so, there are special soaps such as glycerin soaps that will work perfectly for the smell.
3. Drying
When you have rinsed it well, it is time to dry it. How should it be done?It should always be hung in the shade. It is a very common mistake to leave it in the sun, but it is the worst thing that can be done, since it dries, cracks and ages immediately.
VERY IMPORTANT that you dry it upside down, so if you are going to go to the water in the afternoon or the next day at least the inside will be dry.
It is important not to use wire hangers, as they can damage the suit; better plastic. Needless to say, you should not use clothespins, as they can deform it.
4. Store the wetsuit
It is essential to store it when you make sure it is very dry. Never before, even if it is a little damp, because it will spoil and smell bad.
It cannot be stored folded, as cracks may appear in the folds, especially if you do not use it too frequently. The more stretched it is, the better, whether hanging or on a flat surface.
5. Be careful with zippers!
Check them from time to time and use products such as special waxes to keep them in proper condition. No matter how much you take care of the suit, if you don't take into account the zipper and it breaks, the suit will be of no use to you.
