What is a hot air balloon? Many ask this question, although most of us already know it, either from having ridden on it or from having seen it on television, flying over the skies or in some advertising campaign.
A hot air balloon is a means of air transport with which you can fly thanks to the hot air produced through a gas burner. This is all very well, but do you know some of the most curious facts about this type of aircraft? Here they go:
- The first balloon was made in France and flew to a height of 500 meters.
- They say that the first crew members of a balloon were a sheep, a duck and a rooster. Can you believe it?

- The first flight with people was in 1873 and rose to 1,000 meters of altitude.
- In 1999, the first flight was made, traveling non-stop, 46,759 kilometers aboard the Breitling Orbiter III in 19 days, 21 hours and 55 minutes.
