Take a look at the canyoning offers in Asturias.
Here we leave you with everything you need to know if you are going to go canyoning in the Barranco de El Vallegón:
The El Vallegón ravine is located in Amieva, near Arriondas. It is in the basin of the Sella River right next to the Picos de Europa National Park. It flows intoCeneya.
It is one of the canyons where canyoning is most practiced in Asturias due to its permanent flow throughout the year and its fun descent to do with the whole family and friends. It is an authentic natural water park.

The difficulty level of the descent is low-intermediate so it is perfect for those who want to get started in this sport. The most fun thing about this ravine are the slides and the jumps into the pools.
The descent passes through a leafy forest that barely allows you to see the sky. It has several descent options according to the needs and preferences of each one. It is suitable for beginners and participants with previous experience.

This ravine has a little bit of everything; rappels, slides and jumps into pools that make it much more fun.
The best time to make the descent is between the months of March and October, although it will always depend on the flow. The total duration of the two sections of the El Vallegón ravine is approximately 3-4 hours.

Sections of the ravine
The ravine is divided into two sections, the upper and the lower. Normally the upper section is done since it is more entertaining and safer. It has all kinds of obstacles (rappels, slides and jumps into pools) that make this section the most complete and the most fun.

1. Upper Section
As we have said previously, this section is the one that is carried out the most due to a series of characteristics. It has several rappels, slides and jumps into pools that make the experience unforgettable.
For participants who have never done canyoning, it is one of the most beautiful and easiest sections in Asturias.
Amieva is the town closest to the upper section. This section has a length of 1,300 meters and a gradient of 140 meters.

The estimated duration of the descent in the upper section is approximately 1 hour and a half-2 hours. The best time to make the descent is from spring to autumn, always depending on the flow.
In this section you will find 5 rappels, the largest being 20 meters long. You will also find rock ledges that bring you closer to the first rappel of the 8-meter-high descent; and that continues with another of 27 meters.

Further ahead, different waterfalls and slides await you that will take you to the 7-meter rappel known as "the 600 rappel". After passing this you will find the highest jump in Vallegón of 4.5 meters and a 25 meter rappel-slide.
2. Lower section
This section is not so common for canyoning, but there are people who do it, so let's talk about it.
Ceneya is the closest town to the lower section. This section has a length of 600 meters and a gradient of 55 meters.

The duration of the descent of the lower section is approximately 45 minutes. The best time to make the descent is between the months of April and October, always being careful of the water carried by the flow.

The beginning of this section begins with small climbs and slides that you will overcome until you reach a very beautiful rappel that leads to a large pool of water.
The section of this ravine ends with some jumps and overcoming slides that will take you to a more closed area.
