Among all those that you can find in our directory, we are going to propose one that you will surely like: canoeing. It is a very simple practice, because although it may not seem like it, in a few moments you will know how to handle the oars and how to function in the river in which you are going to practice it.

Do you want to descend the Sella?
The Sella is a river about 56 km long, so you have enough river to explore. Obviously you won't do it all at once, or would you like to? Its source takes place in the Picos de Europa and the flow reaches its end in the Cantabrian Sea.
What does Sella offer you? Some of the most surprising Asturian landscapes you can find. The route you take will depend on the canoeing company you choose, as there are various navigable sections.
If you have experience in this type of sport, do not hesitate to participate in the competition that is held every year: the International Descent of the Sella which is held next August between Arriondas and Ribadesella over 20 kilometers. Any paddler who wishes can participate in this test, both Spanish and foreign, with the only requirement, of course, being in possession of a competition license.
For what categories is it open? Both men and women who are senior, junior and veterans in K2, K1, C2 and C1 can participate. However, the section between the Arriondas Bridge and the Ribadesella Bridge (15 km) is open to cadets, centenarians, mixed and RR type boats (rudderless whitewater kayaks).

Who is in charge of the organization? As it could not be otherwise, the Spanish Canoeing Federation, with the delegation of the Canoeing Federation of the Principality of Asturias. If you want to compete, you will have to go to the Organizing Committee of the International Sella Descent (Apdo. Correos 14, 33540 Arriondas - Asturias). Registration will depend on the current year, we recommend you call by phone or send them an email to speed up the administrative procedures.
