As it is an element suspended by a pulley at a certain height, building a zip line at home requires certain knowledge and, above all, getting the appropriate safety materials to make it completely safe and fun. What every zipline worth its salt needs is:
- A steel cable.
- A couple of clips for the cable.
- A pair of carabiners.
- A steel pulley.
- A tractel (cable tensioner).
- A rope of great resistance.
- A bar, like a broom handle to hold you.
- A seat, which can be a wheel or a plastic disc.
The steps you must follow to set up your own zip line are as follows:
- Take as a reference the height of the person or people who are going to ride the zip line. If there is a difference in height greater than 15 cm, it is better to regulate it each time one person or another is going to get on. If the difference is smaller, take the height of the taller person as a reference.
- To this we must add about 75 cm and take that height to the tree or poster to which the zip line is going to be attached.
- Measure the distance you are going to take between the two fixing points, thus also determining the height of the zip line. To do this you must take into account the following measures:
User Height | Height of lowest fixing point | Height of the highest fixing point, according to the following distances between the fixing points
24.5m | 21.5m | 18.5m | 15.5m | 12.5m
1.2m | 2m | 2.9 | 2.75 | 2.6 | 2.45 | 2.3 |
1.4m | 2.1m | 3 | 2.9 | 2.75 | 2.6 | 2.45 |
1.5m | 2.3m | 3.2 | 3 | 2.9 | 2.75 | 2.6 |
1.7m | 2.45m | 3.35 | 3.2 | 3 | 2.9 | 2.75 |
1.8m | 2.6m | 3.5 | 3.35 | 3.2 | 3 | 2.9 |
