Sailing is one of the most rewarding water sports, as it allows you to come into direct contact with nature and relax in the most beautiful surroundings.


Obtain the skipper's qualification

The sailing courses will guarantee you various moments in which you can experience unforgettable adventures so that no matter which coast you are on, you can rent a boat and let yourself be carried where the rudder guides you. Forget about boring vacations in which the beach becomes even tedious and boring: the time has come when you are the protagonist.

To be a sailing skipper there are different qualifications. Taking into account that each one encompasses the previous one, you can opt for the following courses:

Basic Navigation Pattern (BNP)

With this qualification you will be able to handle pleasure boats up to 7.5 meters in length if it is a motor boat or 8 meters in length if it is a sailboat. Of course, you will not be able to go further than 5 miles, although you can drive jet skis.

The necessary requirements to take this degree are the following: be of legal age or be 16 years old and have parental authorization; obtain a medical certificate through an examination that demonstrates your physical and mental abilities; carry out theoretical-practical classes, including radio communications classes; request the issuance of the title.

Recreational Boat Skipper (PER)

If you are a skipper of this type of boat, you will be able to govern vessels 12 meters in length, not being able to exceed a distance of 12 miles from the coast to the horizon in a straight line. You can also navigate between the Canary and Balearic archipelagos.

You must have minimum requirements, such as being of legal age or at least 16 years old and authorization from your parents or guardians; have the approval of a medical examination that verifies that you are in perfect condition to practice this activity; take theoretical and practical classes; request the issuance of the title.

Yacht Skipper (PY)

Thanks to this qualification you will be able to govern both motor and sailing boats with a length of 20 meters in length. You will sail between the coast and the 60-mile line parallel to it.

Prerequisites: be of legal age, be in possession of the PER title, pass the theoretical and practical exams, carry out radio communications practices of no less than 4 hours in duration and pass the medical examination.

Yacht Captain (CY)

There is no limit as to the type of boat or its size, and the steering of motorized or sailing pleasure vessels is possible. It is the highest rank that you can access if you have previously passed the tests required by the Ministry of Public Works.

The conditions to obtain this qualification are the following: be in possession of the PY title; You must be in full mental and physical capacity, proven by prior medical examination; be of legal age; pass both theoretical and practical exams, including here radio communications practices with a duration of no less than 8 hours.
