As (badly) it always happens, we have that "fear" of not knowing how to do something the first time. But let's not be dramatic, it's one thing not knowing if you're going to be good at open-heart surgery on a person struggling between life and death... and quite another to try something as fun as driving! of a kart!
Think that if there are karting where children can drive the vehicles, you will also know how to do it. Driving a kart is not complicated, in fact it is much easier than driving a car. The fact of only having two pedals (accelerator under the right foot, brake under the left) and a steering wheel, without gears, without clutch, without "levers" or distractions... is like driving a bumper car.
We are not talking about a competition kart, which many have 2 engines, a sequential shift lever on the steering wheel... The karts that are driven on "foot" circuits do not present any more difficulty than braking before corners. and turn the steering wheel depending on which side they go to.
Another thing is driving the kart fast. To get to that level you will need to ride a little slower at first. In any case, when starting out you must respect two sacred rules:
- Either accelerate or brake, but never press both pedals at the same time.
- Braking must be done with the steering wheel straight, before the curve. If you don't do this, you will surely go into understeer (come on, skidding), which is not very funny when you are a novice.
Little by little you will search for your limits and those of the kart on duty: you will try to brake later, accelerate earlier, go through the curves faster... Errors will come, as happens with everything;: braking passes (doing it too late or too suddenly), curves that we run out of (that's what curbs, loopholes... and grass are for), people that cross you in other karts...
But always remember that a rental kart on a normal circuit stops in an instant... and that they are designed to withstand these small errors, guaranteeing the safety of the user.
The best thing, without a doubt, is to try it. The karts are very fun and you will see in two or three rounds that it is not difficult at all. In addition, it is a very easy activity to find in any province and if not, look here all the options you have for driving a karta few kilometers from you.
The first return, on the first day, accelerate and brake following your instinct, without regard. You will realize for yourself where you should perform certain maneuvers, verifying that it is easier than what they can explain to you. Just have fun!
