This Spot of Kayak is located on of Pau and walks with a minimum of water. It is initially a pass to Raft.
to get there:
Just before The Assat bridge (Left bank in the direction of the current) there is a path that runs along the Gave , first "challenge" ... The site presents A barrier prohibiting access to vehicles over 2 m high (no luck for trucks and cars with kayaks on the roof ...). It will therefore be necessary to unload then load the equipment, for a smooth passage.
Once on the other side, a second "challenge": another barrier ... But luckily, it opens easily by rotating it horizontally. You are almost there ... the spot is 50 m further on the right. Easy boarding upstream of the dike. The only place to descend without incorrect is the pass which is about 10 m from the wall on the right, otherwise if you feel in a good day, you can try a slalom between the riprap of the dike.
Presentation of the spot:
It is a roll at the foot of a Raft pass whose size varies from 1 m to infinity ... (depending on the water level). It is optimum when the 2 small low walls border the bank of the pass are covered.
- Immediate downstream is flat and without risk, we get easily recovered!
- It is easily accessed with the roller thanks to two fairly large counter-courses and we easily stay there too ...
- With more water, the roller takes the form of a "U" whose two ends are more or less smooth and allow beautiful blunts!
- Attention! When the water begins to pay more than 10 cm the small low wall upstream of the riprap on the left bank, the roller turns into a reminder.
