As advice from the International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA) it is very important that anyone who is in possession of this type of materials checks it on the websites of the different manufacturers.
On August 5, an accident occurred and the manufacturer carried out an investigation to detect where the problem could be found, due to intensive use of the material. We do not want to raise the alarm because some products have been withdrawn from the market, but what we are talking about is offering the best quality service to customers who have purchased these products. This says a lot about the after-sales service of big brands, concerned about their customers.
After the meeting that the UIAA Safety Commission had in Switzerland on September 6, these conclusions were reached:
- Check the material. It is recommended that those who have one of these products visit the website of the manufacturer of their material to check that everything is correct.
- Review UIAA 128. This is intended to include fatigue tests in the safety standards used for via ferratas.
- Companies willing to collaborate. Those manufacturers that went to the Safety Commission were Petzl, DMM, Climbing Technology, Beal, Camp Cassin, Lanex, Simond, Mammut, Eldelrid, Grivel, AustriAlpin and Skylotec.

Eldelrid. After some checks, when used intensively, the elastic bag tape does not comply with the relevant safety standards.
Singing Rock models like EASY GO XP, EASY GO XP LOCK, EASY GO XP COMPLETE. It has decided to withdraw these heatsinks from the market as a precautionary measure.
Will Country. When using this set intensively, in some conditions the elastic cord does not reach the acceptable breaking strength.
AustriAlpin. Doing long-term load testing does not meet the necessary requirements. The subsequent use of Honda kits that have already been removed from the market is recommended. All models will be reviewed again as a security measure.
Edelweiss EVO UPSILON model. By using it continuously, the resistance of the elastic strap decreases, so in case of a fall it would not be safe. It is best to return this product to the usual store and replace it with the previous model.
Peltz SCORPIO L60 and L60 CK model. Lashing elements are under inspection.
