Mount Abantos is a mountain in the Sierra de Guadarrama that is located in the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. It is one of the best flight areas in Madrid.
It is an area protected by the Community of Madrid since it is located within the Picturesque Place of Pinar de Abantos and Zona de la Herrería.

The Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial is built on this slope. During the flight you will fly over the town of San Lorenzo del Escorial and El Escorial.
Takeoff
To take off you must climb Mount Abantos, above the town of El Escorial.
The ascent to the mountain is done along the southern slope leaving the Malagón port. It is a road that connects San Lorenzo de El Escorial with Peguerinos.
There are other paths to climb the mountain from the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial but the climb is more complicated.

You will be able to see the monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. The take-off height is 1700 meters and it has a gradient of 770 meters.
This flight is not recommended for people who are just starting out in this sport since takeoff can be a little complicated due to the stones in the race to take off.
Flight
During the flight you will have spectacular views of the Sierra de Guadarrama, La Machota and the Cruz de los Caídos. Be careful not to collide with the vultures as they will be flying over you.

Below you you will have the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, where its Monastery is located.

Landing
