ENJOY THE NORTHERN SIERRA WITH THE CHILDREN
1. Schmidt Route
A path well known by mountaineers and which is traveled every year by hundreds of people due to its low difficulty, making it possible to do the route with children. It leaves from the port of Navacerrada and arrives at Cercedilla, passing through places like Fuenfría.

Once we are in Navacerrada we will see that, when we climb to the top of the port, there is a paved road on the left where there is the signage for this route. The entire itinerary is marked with yellow spots painted on the trees, which is perfect to avoid getting lost. This path can be done both in winter and summer.
2. Puerto de Cotos: Pingarrón Refuge
Ideal to do it with snowshoes, as the route is easy and suitable for all types of audiences, including children and even schools. Pine trees abound around the entire path and it is about 2 and a half km round trip. The route begins in the port parking lot and goes up until reaching the Navacerrada road with la Pinilla.

Next you must follow the route RP-6 Circular Hoya del Toril, where you must continue straight ahead. The landscapes seen here will be completely snowy within the season. The refuge is signposted and the view from there is spectacular.
3. Bandolero Cork Oak Route
Perfect for doing the route with the little ones in the house, as it is not difficult, it is only 4 km and has a gradient of about 200 m. The route starts from the town Manzanares el Real and It goes towards Pedriza, where you can see meadows where children can run without any type of danger.
You have to start from Calle del Tranco and go up the river until you reach Avenida Pedriza; Once there, turn left until you reach the El Tranco parking lot and go up for about 20 meters until you reach a path that you have to take to the right and continue straight ahead. You will reach the famous tree, about which legend has it that a bandit hid a treasure that has not yet been found.
4. Path of water
This well-known path leads to the Salmoral Lagoon from the town of Prádena del Rincón. In this lagoon, water from the mountains is collected and used for nearby crops and there is also a bird observatory where they are identified.

The route is guided and a group of 10 people must be formed, but it is worth it since the children can learn the cycle of fresh water as well as how important it is that we all take care of it. There are various points to take into account here, such as observing water birds, amphibians and reptiles or riverside vegetation. The kids will love it!
5. Puerto de Navacerrada – 7 Peaks
This snowshoe excursion is very simple although it is 10 km long, so it may be advisable if you are going to do it with children over 10-12 years old who are used to snowshoeing. walk.

Of course, it is worth doing this itinerary, starting towards the telegraph stop and walking along the hill that goes directly to the summit of the 7 Peaks, from where you can see the landscapes of both Madrid and Segovia. On the way back you can go along the Schmidt path, which we talked about a few lines above. Without a doubt, a perfect path for a perfect activity.
