La Cueva del Gato is one of the most important caves in Andalusia and many speleologists decide to visit it every year. Its name comes from the resemblance of the entrance to this animal and already in the Paleolithic it was visited, leaving cave paintings there by the men of the time.
If you are looking for strong emotions and have a high level of practicing caving we recommend that you go explore this cave, where you will find the Gaduares underground river. However, for the curious who want to go to Cat Cave they will only be able to see the limestone entrance, why? The reason is as simple as that there is a sign that prohibits passage without official permission and, although there is neither a physical barrier nor anyone specialized in enforcing the prohibition, given its danger it is advisable not to get too close.

The cave is reached by a path in very good condition, where you can enjoy the landscapes and relax before reaching your destination. Inside you can discover a natural pool but only if you are brave can you swim... the water is freezing!
The cave belongs to the Hundidero-Gato speleological system and can be divided into four sections:
- Cueva del Hundidero and Plaza de Toros: it is the one with the greatest unevenness and you can find things as wonderful as the Lake of the Sartén, the Marmita de los Americanos or two flooded kettles (Lago Blanco and Black Lake). Along the gallery you will come across different formations that will complicate the route, so you will have to be prepared.
- Hall of the Toriles and the Bottle Gallery: you will be able to come across one of the longest lakes and you will pass by the Great Stalagmite (a speleothem considered one of the largest in the world) .
- Boredom Gallery: for a kilometer you will not find anything interesting, but good things take a long time to come.
- Lake 1,100 to Cueva del Gato: the river has deposited the sand in the Dune Room and along the way the different galleries will make you have to figure out how to move forward. Stone blocks carried by the river make it difficult to navigate the hallways.

La boca del gato is about 40 meters high and is very spectacular. The waters of the Gaduares River emerge and fall down to one of the most crystalline and cold, the Charco Frío. Enjoy with your friends or family, spend an exciting day with the most exciting experiences practicing adventure sports.
