THE Club de Vela Barlovento was founded in December 1964. The pioneers of its foundation were José Mateos Recio, as President and Jose Luis Rodríguez Berjano, as Commodore.

The first founding members emerged from the Moraleja Cultural and Sports Club, but new members quickly joined from Coria, Hoyos, Gata or Madrid, among others.

In our club we promote nautical education and teach all types of qualifications and sailing courses.

The first Regatta was held in 1965. Three boats of the "Vaurien" class participated in it, which were called: La Pinta, La Niña and La Santa María.

This first Regatta was called: Criterium Extremeño de la Vela, which has been held, uninterruptedly, from 1965 to the present day.
