Vinícola de Navarra is founded in was founded in 1864, although the Navarrese chronicles of the Middle Ages already made mention of the Hacienda de Las Campanas. Located in the municipality of Tiebas, on the Camino de Santiago, it is the oldest in the Denomination of Origin.
In the middle of the 19th century, phylloxera had devastated the vineyards in France, which caused numerous French winegrowers and merchants to come to Spain in search of vineyards. Among them was Mr. Julio Mihura y Deyheralde, who acquired Venta Las Campanas. The current winery first served as lodging for pilgrims and later as an inn since the 17th century. With the purchase, the Venta becomes a winery and becomes the first winery in Navarra with a legal entity. It is therefore the oldest winery in our Designation of Origin.
In the early 1950s, Mr. Luis Estefanía, the winery's winemaker, after a trip to France, began making the first rosés. The prestige of Las Campanas rosé became such that by the end of the 1950s, people like Ernest Hemingway had it among his favorite wines. The visit can be done in Spanish and English, and consists of a tour of the winery in which the process of making our wine is explained and ends with a tasting of our wines.
We also offer direct sales of our wines in store. A dining room is available for groups with a minimum of 10 people, by appointment. Contact Vinícola de Navarra and come discover our extensive wine tradition.
